The content of the China Online Museum is based on a number of online sources, including Wikipedia and Encyclopædia Britannica.

A significant portion of the items in various art galleries are from the Palace Museum in Beijing and the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
Some artworks are from Shanghai MuseumNational Art Museum of China in Beijing, Chinese Culture University Hwa Kang Museum in TaipeiPrinceton University Art Museumthe Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Tokyo National Museum, and Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts.
Additional items are chosen from public auctions, from companies including Xiling Yinshe Auction and Beijing Rongbao Auction.

ChinaOnlineMuseum.com was officially launched on Mar 21, 2009. Its objective is to provide a general introduction to China and Chinese culture, with a strong emphasis on Chinese art. Eventually we aim to build various galleries to display different kinds of artworks throughout Chinese history.
